Beef Alternatives For Vegetarians

By Anthony K

Beef is a delicacy enjoyed everywhere in the world. In various cultures and cuisines, some people consider beef a staple in their diet. However, beef alternatives have become increasingly popular. Whether you’re trying to cut down on red meat, are cutting food costs, or are trying to reduce your carbon footprint, you might be searching for a good substitute for beef. Here are a few suggested replacements for red meat to help you live a healthier, less environmentally impactful life:

1. Mushrooms

Mushrooms are a great alternative if you enjoy the meaty texture of beef. Try ground cremini or chopped mushrooms instead of ground beef in burger patties.

Grilling whole portobello caps is a better substitute for burgers when you need more fiber, protein, and anti-oxidants.

2. Lentils

Lentils are also a rich source of natural protein, fiber, and carbohydrates. The meal has a palatable, tender texture making it a great alternative for ground beef in tacos, patties, and pasta sauces.

Mix it up between the red and brown lentils for a smooth or chunkier texture, respectively, to enjoy a gluten-free diet.

3. Cauliflower

Most vegans regard cauliflowers as the best meat substitutes. Cauliflower is rich in folate, Vitamin B, Vitamin K, Vitamin BC, and fiber.

But, like everything, you shouldn’t rely on this single food in your diet. Excessive consumption can lead to bloating and gassiness.

You may dump beef for healthier alternatives or reduce its consumption and general presence in your diet. Consider the specifics of your choice to reduce health complications like allergic reactions or indigestion.
